Santo Antônio is one of the most popular saints in Brazil, well known for being the matchmaking saint, and the cake that bears his name is one of the main actions of this commemorative date. This time of year is when the greatest demand for the Santo Antônio cake occurs, especially among boyfriends and suitors who want to share a slice with the loved one.

Thinking about this special date, we separate the recipe from this traditional recipe for Valentine’s Day:

Ingredients

3 cups of Venturelli wheat flour;
5 eggs (with yolks and whites separated);
2 cups of tea;
1 and 1/2 cup (tea) of butter;
1 tablespoon of baking powder;
1 teaspoon of fennel;
100g of roasted cashew nuts;
Grease margarine;

To the roof:

1 cup (tea) of icing sugar;
1 tablespoon of orange juice;

Method of preparation

With the help of a mixer, beat the egg whites and set aside.

Mix the butter with the sugar until it forms a cream. Add the fennel and add the egg yolks one by one. Mix the flour and beat well.

Add the yeast, the reserved whites and mix. Pour into a greased pan (30 cm in diameter) and lined with greased parchment paper.

Place in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes. Unmold and discard the waxed paper. Mix the icing sugar with the orange juice and cover the cake.

Decorate with the chestnuts and it will be ready to be served!
